Google officially unveiled its own-brand of smartphones, dubbed as Pixel and Pixel XL, last October 4 which reportedly signify the new era for handsets.

Both the Google Pixel models sport a premium look and feel with their aluminum and glass design that are available in three colors: quite black, very silver, and really blue. It could be noticed that Google Pixel is quite similar to iPhone's appearance, except without latter's the prominent hand-touch design.

Although, co-created with Taiwanese firm HTC, the design of the two Google Pixel smartphones does not hint any of it as the phones only feature a "Made by Google" and a Google "G" logo on the rear of the handset.

Likewise, Google Pixel is available in two models, the Pixel and the Pixel XL. Both have quite similar looks and internal specifications with few minor differences. As their names already suggest, Pixel XL is the larger one with a 5.5-inch display and a sharper screen resolution of 1440p while Pixel sports a 5-inch display and a 1080p screen resolution.

With Pixel's smaller design, it has lighter weight with 143 grams in comparison to Pixel XL's 168 grams. Also,  Pixel is cheaper with its base model with 32GB costing $649 while Pixel XL cost starts from $769.

As for the battery span, Pixel XL sports longer battery life of up to 32 hours of talk time while Pixel allows around 26 hours.

Aside from these differences, the two Google Pixel models are much the same. The power/lock switch and volume button are located on the right-hand side of the phone and there's also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone that sits just below the camera and the flash.

The Pixel and Pixel XL are also equipped with a 12.3MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Google claims the model to be the best smartphone camera ever made and, in fact, was awarded a DxOMark rating of 89 which is the highest score that any smartphone ever got.

As per GQ, the Google Pixel smartphones are equipped with in-built HDR Plus technology that allow steady and stable filming even in challenging conditions. The camera also remains crystal-clear even in low lighting.

Furthermore, Pixel and Pixel XL have free and unlimited cloud storage for photos and videos. This feature would come in handy for anyone who considers it a pain to back files up.

For the operating system, Google Pixel smartphones run the firm's latest mobile platform, Android Nougat. Google apparently ditched the traditional app draw and instead kept a swipe up panel that users can access by sliding their fingers up from the app dock.

Google Pixel also incorporates "Google Assistant" which is like Apple's Siri. With this feature, Google Pixel allows the smartphones virtual reality ready as part of the company's master plan for Daydream and the Daydream View headset.

The Google Pixel release date has been confirmed as October 20, but pre-orders are already open in the UK, US, and Australia. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
