Japanese tech company Sony partnered with online shopping giant Amazon to sell the Xperia XZ in the US. The smartphone, launched during the last IFA Berlin, experienced increased sales among American customers due to its availability in Amazon for USD 699.99.

The Xperia XZ was first sold in Taiwan. Although, the high-end Sony smartphone may be up for sale in Amazon, its reputed fingerprint sensor - missing for US market variants, will be made available to other international markets. Sony partnered with the online retail giant to boost the smartphone's sales in the US tech market, without relying much on US-based carriers.

It is reported that Amazon excluded the Forest Blue variant from its offerings, even though the model was available during the pre-order stage. It remains unclear as to why Amazon or Sony have decided to narrow down the smartphone's color variants sold on Amazon to Graphite Black and Platinum.

The specifications that come with the US variant of the Xperia XZ include the following: 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1080, along with a best display feature of Sony's Triluminos technology, which displays rich and vibrant colors.

Xperia XZ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which has an expandable memory via SD card up to 256GB, a 2,990mAh non-removable Li-ion battery and supports fast charging via its USB-C port and the device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with Sony's custom Xperia UI running on top of the Google's OS. The finger print sensor, as mentioned, is absent from the US tech market.
