LG is stepping up the wearable tech game as the New Year begins. A popular tipster has leaked the first shot of LG LifeBand Touch sports wristband ahead of its anticipated debut at the CES 2014.

Last year was filled with innovative wearable tech gadgets by some leading brands and like Google, Samsung, Sony, Nike, Fitbit, Jawbone and startups like Pebble. The trend is likely to continue this year too with LG's first wearable computer tech, the LifeBand Touch wristband likely to debut at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas from January 7-10.

As the most awaited electronic event of the year approaches, popular tipster, @evleaks, has leaked the first shots of the LifeBand Touch.

The news of LG working towards stepping into the wearable tech race was revealed last week, according to Engadget. But the details about the product have been skimpy and scarce. Several media reports stated that the phone maker had a fitness band and a smartwatch in its pipeline alongside the launch of its next flagship G3 smartphone, set to debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February this year.

The leaked photo by @evleaks on Twitter shows the fitness band by LG. The device is modelled on the looks of today's trending fitness bands. The device, as the name suggests, will feature a touch surface that lets users navigate through the band's functionalities. Like most times, the tipster's details about the gadget were scanty, revealing just the official name.

LG's attempt in wearable tech isn't new as the company had first showed off its first smart band at the CES 2013. However, it failed to push it to the stores. The latest wristband looks more like a considerable attempt to succeed in competing with the likes of Nike Fuelband and other wearable tech gadgets.

According to a report from Ubergizmo, the LifeBand Touch will monitor fitness activities like step counting, calories burnt, heart rate and more. Further details are likely to appear once LG pulls off the curtains next week at the CES 2014.
