The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) may just have received a very strange request from The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education, or RFSU. On September 26, the group released an announcement that basically tells NASA why there's a need for the astronauts to and spacecraft to bring a condom and a manual with it.

"Dear NASA," said RFSU. "We know that you guys sometimes send stuff into space so that whatever life is out there will get an idea of what goes on here on Earth."

According to the group, the condom is a very important aspect of human life as it gives us the power to decide when to have babies and the ability to enjoy life without the fear of contracting sexually transmitted diseases that could potentially ruin someone's life. RFSU further acknowledges that although we don't know if the condom would a perfect contraception for aliens, if NASA's goal is to get to them, then the condom is a perfect offering.

Cantech Letter reports that the mildly ridiculous announcement was made in honor of the World Contraception Day, which was established and launched in 2007 to help bring awareness of what could happen during sex and how a condom and any other contraception can help prevent unexpected, and maybe sometimes unwanted, circumstances.

If NASA does end up sending a condom to space, it may not be the weirdest thing that the supposed aliens would have seen. After all, there was that time when NASA brought a black and white diagram of human sec organs. The condom may just be seen as an afterthought that can complete the picture of the diagram. Regardless of what NASA will decide, it seems that RFSU was able to achieve its goal of catching the attention of masses.

Several people have reacted to the request of RFSU and while some were amused, some criticized the group for being "fickle." Ultimately, the video explain why NASA should send a condom to space while simultaneously bringing awareness of STDs and the importance of contraception.
