American Horror Story Season 6 is the most mysterious season of the anthology horror series yet, with the creators locking up any significant details for the upcoming episodes to the viewers.

"Every year, we lay out the themes and the new genre Ryan [Murphy] is going to be approaching; we thought it'd be fun this year to keep it a mystery - so we are," FX CEO John Landgraf said to The Hollywood Reporter.

Landgraf added, "There are many of the trailers than you've actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story - different genres, different places. One of them is accurate; the others are all misdirects."

As per the report of Entertainment Weekly, the American Horror Story team is protecting theme details of the season. Creator Ryan Murphy said to the media outlet, "It's a hat on a hat on a hat on a hat that we've had to protect."

Teasing, Murphy added, "You'll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you're watching is not what you're watching."

Although the showrunners remain tightlipped on details, fans are posting their own theories about how the American Horror Story: Roanoke is connected to the previous seasons of the franchise. THR further reported one speculation that suggests that each episode of AHS would correspond to the respective season in the franchise.

Viewers have observed that the first episode of American Horror Story: Roanoke, which follows Matt and Shelby's move in North Carolina after the former was attacked by a gang while the latter suffered a miscarriage, is incidentally similar to Murder House. Likewise, Shining-like ghosts and Blair Witch elements can be seen in the couple's new house.

This speculation is further confirmed by Murphy in his talk with THR, "Oh yeah, absolutely. And the seasons are connected, for sure."

Likewise, casts from the previous season of American Horror Story will be coming back in AHS: Roanoke. One of which is Finn Wittrock who will reprise his role as a spoiled brat-turned-killer Dandy Mott from season's four Freak Show.

"This is the year where you see the greatest hits in terms of actors of American Horror Story," Murphy revealed.

Also, the main cast members who appeared in the premiere episode include Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Wes Bentley, and Denis O'Hare. Evan Peters and Cheyenne Jackson are yet to be seen in the upcoming episodes while Lady Gaga joined Bates and Bentley in a short appearance during the second episode to play one of the ghosts in the Roanoke land.

American Horror Story: Roanoke airs Wednesday at 10 pm on FX. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
