"Ray Donovan" Season 5 will be the final season to air on Showtime Network. This ignited rumors that Ray Donovan will meet a tragic demise in the final episode as "Game of Thrones" actor Ian McShane returns on set.

The showrunner also hinted some details on what fans should expect in the newest season.

In "Ray Donovan" Season 5, the titular character will die in a car crash in the finale episode, Game n Guide has learned.

In addition, Ian McShane has been rumored to return in "Ray Donovan" Season 5. Movie News Guide has learned that the 73-year-old English actor and comedian will reprise his role as Andrew Finney.

Andrew Finney happens to be a successful and ruthless billionaire who wants Ray to be his employee. Such rumors stemmed as fans demand for his return.

With "Ray Donovan" Season 5 officially renewed, showrunner David Hollander hinted via The Hollywood Reporter, "I'm beginning to seriously think of an endgame. I'm always gentle with thinking of larger plotting for the show because I don't want to hurt what [creator] Ann Biderman designed initially."

"I'm doing the dance between the style of the show and the greater narrative of who is Ray Donovan within his family and who is this man and where is he going next? We have to reach a point with Ray where we say goodbye to him, and the goodbye shouldn't be death," he said.

As of now, the official premiere date of "Ray Donovan" Season 5 has not been released but it is expected to air by summer 2017.

"Ray Donovan" is an American television crime drama series created by Ann Biderman for Showtime.
