Post the Pitt-Jolie divorce news, the couple is so closed that there is absolutely nothing new that anyone learns, except the reactions of their close friends, journalists, lawyers, ex-partners or spouses. That seems to be making more news than their own reactions.

It was a bit of a shock for George Clooney, Brad Pitt's close friend, to hear that Angelina Jolie  had filed for divorce.

The question was popped to him cautiously. CNN's Richard Roth asked: "Alright, don't shoot me on this last question but you're friends with both of them. Any thoughts?"

"What's that? What's happened?" George replied.

Surprised, Roth updated him.

The first reaction of George Clooney on hearing about the Brangelina divorce was pure "shock" and an amazed 'wow'.

"I didn't know that. Wow," George told Richard Roth.

His reply sounds pretty incoherent and repetitious. "I feel very sorry then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. That's the first I've heard of it," he mumbled.

George Clooney had arrived in New York to thrash out a bigger problem involving refugees at a United Nations meeting. He was participating in a roundtable meeting with his human rights lawyer wife Amal, along with President Barack Obama. However, the personal friend's news would have probably shaken him quite a lot before he went to split hairs on a global crisis.

But the update from the couple isn't forthcoming, much. Angelina's lawyer disclosed: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

Earlier, while there have been a number of rumors about their breaking relationship, no one really dreamt that there was any truth in any of the stories. They headed in "completely different" directions, and most of the time the couple seemed to be involved in their own world. Yet, they are the favorites of the starry, media as well as civil world.

Hence, when Angelina filed for divorce from her husband of two years and boyfriend of 11 years, the complete world seemed to erupt.

The changeling actress has not been keeping too happy for the past few months---what with continuous arguments about their future life, according to media reports.

People are clear that "Angelina wants to be seen as a humanitarian while Brad continues to live the Hollywood lifestyle." They are both going through some kind of midlife crisis. Reportedly, she told him earlier this month: "I can't do this anymore."

On his side, Brad is reported to be "devastated" after she decided to split. But she was firm about their "irreconcilable differences", even as the court has recorded the separation date to be September 15, 2016.

So even if it is "weighing heavy on her heart", Angelina believes that she was right to protect her children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight.

An insider said: "She still says Brad is the love of her life, and the decision has weighed heavy on her heart. Her priority now is the children."
