Data from Slice Intelligence just revealed the first online sales figures for the iPhone 7, and early shoppers prefer the Plus. Among those pre-ordering the iPhone 7, in the first 48 hours of availability, 55 percent ordered the Plus model. By comparison, over half of the iPhone orders of the 6 and 6s were for the regular model during the first two days of availability.

About 55.9 percent of customers who pre-ordered an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus had previously purchased at least one iPhone between 2014 and now, according to Slice Intelligence. 34 percent of customers had not purchased any smartphone since 2014, while the remaining shoppers switched from Samsung, LG, and Motorola.Meanwhile, given the lack of Space Gray this year, Black has emerged as the new most popular iPhone color, accounting for 46 percent of pre-orders. Jet Black is also a popular choice, selected by 23 percent of customers, although limited supply of Jet Black models has pushed shipments of Jet Black models to November, likely leading many customers to choose Black, Gold, Rose Gold, or Silver instead.

Rose Gold models, first introduced on the iPhone 6s, represented 15 percent of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders, while Gold and Silver models trailed behind with 9 percent and 8 percent of orders respectively.Fitz Tepper who's a correspondent at TechCrunch posted this tweet about the number of people lined up to buy the new iPhones. Of course there were problems as usual with a potential buyer who'd queued up said "I waited for over an hour for my 8:30am reservation at my local Apple Store. I had reserved a 128GB Silver 7 Plus.

After much waiting around they finally told me that their shipment was short and they could not fulfil my order today. Try back tomorrow and they should be able to get me my phone. Anyone else experiencing this issue?" with one more added up to the point with his views "I had the same thing happen to me at the Pentagon City store in VA. Reserved a 256GB 7plus in matte black for 8 am. Got there only to be told they didn't have it. I was given $100 gift card as compensation. Don't give me a "reservation" if you don't have the stock." However, Apple couldn't do anything but help them compensate with gift cards.
