A flood of goals from Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez capped a perfect night for Barcelona's Champions League group opener this season against a hapless Celtic.

The Argentine forward only took three minutes into the game to smash in a goal against the Scottish visitors - the first in a series of bangers that highlighted the Catalan club's supremacy in the European stage. Barca's main man wasted no time adding a second midway through halftime.

Celtic's uneventful evening further unraveled when Neymar flew in a free-kick behind keeper Dorus du Vries. Andres Iniesta - coming in as a substitute, and the rest of Messi's hat-trick that night - proverbial in his reading of the European game, added further misery to Brendan Rodgers' side.

Suarez, another of Luis Enrique's key men, took over the late show with a sensational brace to his name - one through a volley and another with a stretched-out side-foot tap. Celtic had so much notes to jot down that night as they were schooled by Barcelona's perfect European football.

Much of Barcelona's mauling of Celtic exhausted the best out of the MSN trio's goal machine. The attacking trident has since scored 253 goals and assisted another 120 in between them throughout their last two full seasons together, the BBC reported.

Barcelona's ruthless attacking force tore Celtic's game to shreds, exposing every bit of flaw they had that night. Messi virtually hoodwinked each of the Hoops' attempts to disrupt his play, deeming their European sojourn a worrisome cause as only a saved Moussa Dembele penalty emerged as their real threat.

Celtic's toppling at Camp Nou proved to be the worst Champions League loss for Scotland's largest football club. Rodgers' reunion with Suarez after their time together at Liverpool proved a peculiar one, with the manager having to nurse back his Bhoys from trauma after a beating from his ex-striker and friends.
