First, it is expected that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be having a curved-edged display with the display's aspect ratio changed to 16:10. In addition, the Samsung device is expected to come in two variants (8-inch and 9.7-inch) with an AMOLED panel and an astounding 4K display functionality. Looking at the Korean giant's contender, the Nexus 7 2016, it is said this will be available in a 7-inch screen with an AMOLED Quad display panel. The two variants of the Google smartphone, Pixel and Pixel XL, will showcase 2560 x 1440 pixels and 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution, respectively.

Moving on to performance-related specifications, the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to house an octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset, similar to what the Galaxy S7 phone currently has. The Samsung tablet will feature a 4 GB RAM along with internal storage choice of 32 GB and 64 GB (with an additional cost). Better be on the lookout, though! Other sources suggest that a massive Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor may power the Galaxy Tab 3. Of course, Google won't just be sitting on their laurels. Their Nexus 7 2016 is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Whether taking selfies or capturing breathtaking moments, the tablet's built-in camera can be a big deal breaker. The Galaxy Tab S3 is rumored to feature an 8-megapixel rear with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Google tablet will feature an astounding 13-megapixel rear with additional (but still undetermined) extra functions. To level the playing field, both the devices are said to include a USB Type-C ports for faster data transfer and battery charging.

On the topic of batteries, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to go head-to-head with its contender by showcasing a 4,000 mAh battery for the 8-inch model and a 5,870 mAh battery for the 9.7-inch model. The Nexus 7 2016, however, will have 5100 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support installed in its system.

As far as software is concerned, the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to run on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. There are plans to upgrade to the OS to Android Nougat in the upcoming months. Meanwhile, the Nexus 7 puts itself ahead of the game by having the Android 7.0 Nougat already pre-set as the default system.
