Although Naughty Dog continues to refuse to provide information about the development of "The Last of Us 2" and its possible release date, a lot of its fans believed that the game will not be released soon.

As reported by Mobile & Apps, "The Last of Us 2" is presently regarded to be among the most anticipated games with a hype level similar to that of Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Unfortunately, its developer Naughty Dog has not yet provided any information about the game.

A GameNguide article quoted Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann saying that it took them about three and a half years to finish "The Last of Us". Now that their main priority is the "Uncharted 4" single player DLC, it would be safe for fans to expect the release of "The Last of Us 2" to happen on 2021 or probably hear official announcements in 2018.

Aside from that, an Ecumenical News report hinted that there are also rumors that "The Last of Us 2" will focus on different characters. It can be remembered that Druckmann did not mention anything about continuing the story of Joel and Ellie.

Due to silence, many fans speculated that there might a new plot or storyline that will include a lot of surprises.

But on the contrary, other fans are expecting that the story of Joe and Ellie will continue but with added struggles. Ellie might have learned that in order to save her, Joel was forced to get rid of the Fireflies.

But since Naughty Dog has not yet provided any statement regarding the matter, the game's fans are left with no option but to wait for official updates.
