OPPO is finally offering the first retail phone to be released with a community-driven consumer-ready ROM in its most awaited N1 CyanogenMod limited edition for $599.

CyanogenMod is another step closer to achieving its goal of becoming a mainstream Android and iOS alternative mobile operating system. OPPO had guaranteed a CyanogenMod edition of its flagship Android smartphone, the N1, by December, and is holding its end of the bargain. The first retail phone with a community-driven, consumer-ready ROM can be purchased via OPPOStyle official website for $599. While the high-end smartphone arrives during the holidays, buyers should expect a delay in shipping.

The limited edition CyanogenMod N1 features high-end specifications and an exquisite design. The unique smartphone sports a full HD 1080p 5.9-inch display, powered by a quad-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB internal storage. Besides, the 13- megapixels camera is smartly designed to click pictures, both front and back. The phone does not have a dual-camera but the same camera rotates up to 206 degree for perfect portrait shot and a selfie.  The limited edition smartphone runs the Cyanogen 10.2, which replaces OPPO's ColorOS, built on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

CyanogenMod always makes room for innovation and with the N1. The ROM maker is letting users download a factory image of the release software so there is a safe place to return to if anything goes wrong.

"We are going one step further. In addition to releasing the factory images - allowing N1 owners a safe return from their hacking hijinks - we are making available the accompanying source for not only the shipping 10.2 codebase, but the latest and greatest CM 11 code," according to Tuesday's CM blog.

OPPO has not revealed any details of CyanogenMod's compatibility with existing N1 models. But the company has not ruled out the possibility of bringing the ROM for current users, which can be expected sometime next year.
