Some people might think of the Duggars themselves as some kind of threat to peaceful society! However, the lives of the members aren't smooth. Being Christian missionaries in El Salvador brought its own package of potential dangers with it to Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard.

They are clear that the Duggars are a bit nervy about the high incidence of crime they might face.

"It's risky here - we stand out as Americans, so definitely we're higher risk," the 25-year-old says. "You have to talk about things that probably a lot of couples wouldn't talk about back in the States."

"We've been married almost two years - we have a little baby," Jill explains. "If we were back in the States, we wouldn't be talking about, 'Now if you die, what am I supposed to do from there? If you don't come home after you are supposed to [at] this hour, then what do I do?' It's hard to talk about those things, but it's also good for us to [know] like, if something happened, what I'm supposed to do."

Jill's brother Josiah said: 'Every time we get to have a video conversation with them, they update us with, "Hey, pray for us. In this region near us, there's a lot of violence going on."'

But being missionaries and distributing some good work also makes them free of concerns and worries, muses 27-year-old Dillard.

"I do love my life here," he admits. "I think there's not another place in the world I'd rather be right now, but there's obviously going to be times when I'm going to miss my life in America."

"I want to learn to live in an environment whether it's easy or it's hard so I can accomplish what God's called me to accomplish. This happens to be a difficult environment but the need is real."
