Actor Idris Elba has given the good news to his fans and told them that he has finished shooting for "The Dark Tower." He also revealed that the edit is coming along nicely.

According to reports, the "Star Trek: Beyond" actor took to Twitter and told a fan that he is done filming the movie. He also revealed that he had spoken to the director and learned that the edit is coming along nicely. Elba's revelation is quite exciting as it means the footage of the film that has been kept secret for a while, will soon be before our eyes.

Though Columbia Pictures had announced earlier this year that they would be releasing the first look of the film at EW Pop Fest in October, fans were curious to have a look at the footage. However, it is not like there was a complete lack of updates. Some set photos had made their way to social media and they gave out a fair idea about the movie's theme.

One photo showed Idris in his character's getup and a promotional poster with Tom Taylor in backdrop also came out, shedding light on the movie's multiverse. Ironically, these very updates caused a stir among fans and fanned their curiosity.

Meanwhile, the fast track filming of the movie may bother the fans, reports claim. Some believe that it is a challenge to stay true to the essence of a book while adapting it into a movie. It requires detailed work and time to do justice to a novel, which appears to have been given a short shrift in this case.

It is worth mentioning here that "The Dark Tower" is based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. It stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain or The Gunslinger along with Matthew McConaughey, Claudia Kim, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Katheryn Winnick.

It tells the story of Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger of Mid-World, who is on an exploration exercise, searching for The Dark Tower that is under threat as some evil power is hell-bent on destroying it.

The film is slated to hit theaters next year on Feb. 17.
