"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is the most awaited and the biggest release of all times. And, it is well known that whether it is stars who actually get associated or are just rumored to be associated gain a lot of public attention.

The recent star who has been in a lot of controversies is actress Zendaya. It is speculated that the young actress will be playing the role of Mary Jane Watson in the recent "Spider-Man: Homecoming."  But the news has raised a lot of questions in the mind of loyal Marvel fans about the heritage of the actress.

The graphic novel has Mary Jane Watson as the lover interests of Peter Parker and is portrayed to be a red-haired white woman. However if finalized, Zendaya will be the first actress to play the role as a black actress in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

Although some fans of Marvel have argued against the casting of Disney Channel star, Zenyada, but according to reports, the creator of the character, the legendary Stan Lee has said, "If she is as good an actress as I hear she is, I think it'll be absolutely wonderful."

The director of "Guardians of the Galaxy," James Gunn has also voiced his support in favor of Zenyada being cast as Mary Jane. He stated that the main attributes of the character are the main factor determined while deciding the casting and not the physical manifestation.

It has been seen in the past that Marvel made many character choices that are different from the original. For instance, Michael Clarke Duncan played the role of the Kingpin in the first movie of "Daredevil," while Michael B Jordan depicted Human Torch in the recent "Fantastic Four."

For now, fans just have to wait for the casting to be finalized to see whether the role of Mary Jane for the upcoming movie, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" zeroes on Zenyada or not.
