The upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy" will focus on the original series regulators of the show.

In a recent interview, Kelly McCreary, who plays Maggie, has revealed that in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13, creator Shonda Rhimes will explore the major characters of the show like Meredith, Alex, Bailey, and Richard Webber.

Kelly further revealed that the original show regulars are the foundations of the show and other characters keep coming and going from the show. Kelly had also joined the show as Meredith's half-sister, Maggie, in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11.

In the previous season of "Grey's Anatomy" a lot of time was spent with Meredith, exploring the changes in her life, and how she was coming to term with Derek's death.

And, similarly, the upcoming season will see the life of the other doctors being explored, and all the changes that have already happened or are going to happen will be portrayed. However, whether "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will have the major characters Cristina or Izzie returning to the show is yet to be confirmed.

Coming to Meredith, Season 13 will have her and Maggie building their sisterly bond after Amelia moves out of the house post her marriage to Owen. Maggie will also find out about Riggs and Meredith's relationship and a lot of drama will unfold with the season.

However, this does not mean that the new characters will take a backseat. April and Jackson will explore their relationship and learn co-parenting. Post marriage, Amelia and Owen will get to know the meaning of togetherness and the ups and downs of marriage.

Kelly also revealed that she is looking forward to the season that will dive further into the lives of the characters, who are deeply rooted with "Grey's Anatomy."

Season 13 of "Grey's Anatomy" returns this September, on ABC.
