All "Game of Thrones" fans can rejoice now as George R.R. Martin will be back on television. After the impending end of series, a new anthology series "Wild Cards" is on the cards.

Universal Cable Productions (UCP) of "Suits" and "Mr. Robot" fame has acquired the rights from Martin. The author broke the news on his personal blog and announced that the series is being developed.

However, due to Martin's agreement with HBO, he will not be able to work on the project. It is Melinda Snodgrass and Gregory Noveck, Martin's assistant editors, who will be working on the proposed show as the executive producers. The author is hopeful that Snodgrass, Noveck, and UCP will do justice to the series.

Martin wrote on his personal blog that "Wild Cards" has thousands of stories to be told and these are not just books, graphic novels, and games. Rather, it is a universe just like Marvel and DC Comics. He further stated that the series includes both small and big characters and thus, the cast will also be huge. Martin feels that the series will hit the screens in a year or two.

Notably, the first volume of "Wild Cards" was first published in the year 1986. And, so far, there have been 27 publications, all under different authors. Later this month, a part of the series, "High Stakes" will be released and three more are in the development process as well.

The new series is sure to excite both, Martin's fans as well as the fans of the series "Game and Thrones." The fascinating world of Westeros had a large fan following and it is a sure thing that the upcoming TV series will be another piece of art from Martin, that will be loved by the audience.
