"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will see the return of Tristin Mays, who plays Sarah Salvatore in the show. Apart from Tristin, another actress who will return to the finale season is Nina Dobrev.

However, how Sarah's character will progress in the season has not been revealed. According to reports, she might be the one who will help Damon and Enzo return from the darkness.

Sarah was last seen in Season 6 of the show and Enzo asked her to leave Mystic Falls. Though she followed what she was told, but she did not forget whatever she had learned about the vampires. And now since she is returning, the chances of her rescuing the vampires are high.

Moreover, earlier this year, Julie Plec, the executive director had stated that in the upcoming season, Damon might need some moral support and who can be better than Sarah.

Sarah would fit the bill of a savior perfectly as the next season will also see the entry of a new villain. Moreover, the executive director's confirmation on the same has further enhanced the excitement level of the show.

It is worth mentioning here that Mays might not be having a long stint as along with "The Vampire Diaries" she would also be filming for CBS' Macgyver reboot. Well, she is a series regular and will surely have to divide her time between both the shows.

During the San Diego Comic-Con this year, it was confirmed that Matt will make his comeback to explore his human side. It is a pretty sure thing that the finale season of the show will be a treat for the fans, especially since the original cast members will be reprising their popular roles once again.

Season 8 of "The Vampire Diaries" premiere on October, 21 this year at 8 p.m. on The CW.
