Doom fans are getting a taste of an even more violent and aggressive version of the 1993 cult classic and its sequel in a popular mod upgrade called "Brutal Doom" which adds new guns from the 2016 reboot.

With Brutal Doom, players are able to use the weapons in the Doom 2016 edition in the original first-person-shooter game. Apart from adding guns from the 2016 weapons inventory, the latest Doom mod also gives players the ability to dual-wield such guns. Some guns like the Shotgun and Heavy Assault Rifle can also be upgraded by the gamers themselves.

Moreover, another content addition to the Brutal Doom update from 2016 Edition's multiplayer mode is the Demon Runes that temporarily transforms gamers into either a Baron of Hell or Revenant, Eurogamer reported.

"I am still going to make a version 3, adding the remaining multiplayer weapons, and allowing the demon rune to turn the player into a Mancubus, Cacodemon, or Cyberdemon," said modder who goes by the name of Sergeant_Mark_IV as quoted in his YouTube notes.

"I know Dual Wielding seems a bit overpowered on this video, but that's because I am using cheats to have maximum ammo. In a real playthrough, it would be fair more balanced."

On a side note, Bethesda Softworks has released Doom 2016's first major update on June 30 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The update came with the new Photo Mode and "classic Doom" weapon placement/view option features plus a series of bug fixes and optimizations according to Game Spot.

The patch downloaded automatically on Xbox One and PC. However, PlayStation 4 users still had to toggle "automatic updates" to initiate automatic download on the console platform. Failure to do so required players to manually download the patch update.

In another related development, Bethesda confirmed at E3 2016 that Doom 2016 alongside Fallout 4 will both get a virtual reality version playable on HTC Vive VR. However, creators may need to lessen Doom's horror-themed content as well as address issues relating to motion sickness caused by the game's extremely fast gameplay as developers assess the potential effects of VR gaming on the player's psychological health, University Herald reported.
