Witcher 3 has supposedly 36 different endings or the number of variations in terms of how the story in the game world ends. The ending is pretty much dependent upon the choices Geralt makes in the "Battle Preparations," "Blood on the Battlefield," and "Final Preparations."

For Witcher 3 fans, here are the three possible character endings for Geralt of Rivia during the course of the role playing open-world game (via IGN):

1. Geralt will spend the rest of his life as a Witcher on the road. Provided that he makes no attempt at settling down with either Triss Merrigold or Yennefer (or keeping them both), he will go on with his life as a Witcher on the Path as he reminisces about the events in his life and reflects on how different things might have been had he chosen to retire instead.

2. Geralt quits his full-time Witcher life and retires with Triss. This ending is possible if Geralt romances Triss and wooing her to stay with him during "A Matter of Life and Death" and "Now or Never." Provided he doesn't get romantically entangled with Yennefer later in the game, the couple will move north where Triss becomes a royal advisor as Geralt earns a living as an occasional part-time Witcher.

3. Geralt and Yennefer may end up retiring together as a couple. This is possible if Geralt manages to avoid romancing Triss and chooses to romance Yennefer instead during "The Last Wish." If this happens, the Witcher and the Sorceress will have a peaceful retirement together as a couple away from the treacherous political entanglements and dangers of adventure.

Meanwhile, Witcher 3 quest designer Patrick Mills recently talked about how localization efforts allowed the game to top the Japanese game charts last week- a rarity for Western role playing games. Considering how resistant Japan is to foreign intrusion in the video game market, Mills pointed out the importance of making the game relevant to the market's own culture, time, and place.

"Having a good game is key, of course, but I think we owe a lot of that also to our localization department - they're just phenomenal...and they know that localization is the key to opening new markets. It's the thing that lets you go into a place like Japan, that's been resistant to certain types of games coming out of the West," Mill said as quoted by RPG Site in a recent interview.

In another related development, a closed beta version for the upcoming Witcher 3 spin-off, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, is coming to Xbox One and PC in September this year. As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, the Gwent Card beta will expand to PlayStation 4 at an unspecified later date. CD Projekt Red hasn't announced the slated date for the card game's full release yet. For now, the game developer promises a feature-rich and well-polished game by the time it goes out of beta.
