For about a decade, Cody Rhodes showed WWE fans his potential as a would-be world champion with his looks and charisma. Unfortunately, the creative seemed unable to tap his innate talent leading the 30-year-old pro-wrestler to request the WWE management to be released from his contract on May 22. Latest rumors, however, cite WWE's recent offer to one of its former wrestlers.

As reported by PW Mania, WWE and Rhodes are engaged in a series of discussion of a new deal that would allow both parties to do some business together. While he left the company feeling frustrated, his ex-employer reported wants to ink a Legends deal with him, giving WWE the green light to sell merchandise bearing his likeness.

So far, no confirmed reports have emerged from both sides. Rhodes is unlikely to make any WWE appearance on TV. Moreover, his schedule is already full with matches with some of the pro-wrestling world's top wrestling figures who aren't part of the WWE universe.

According to a Yibada report, Rhodes will be facing off Johnny Gargano at Evolve 66 in Joppa, Maryland on August 19. Five days later, the former WWE superstar will have a showdown with Mike Bennett on August 26 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts at the Wrestling Under the Stars. But his biggest events will be on August 27 and 28 against Kurt Angle first in Wappingers Falls, New York and Jushin Thunder Liger at a Northeast Wrestling event in Bethany, Connecticut.

In another wrestling update from What Culture, Cody Rhodes will also be taking part in the Battle of Los Angeles (BOLA) 2016. This means that he'll be taking off one item on his fabled wish list. The annual tournament also includes non-WWE big names like Kamataichi, Jeff Cobb (The Monster Matanza Cueto from Lucha Underground) and Mark Haskins. If Rhodes nabs this year's BOLA, he'll be joining previous tournament winners like Zack Sabre Jr., El Generico, Kenny Omega, Low Ki and Adam Cole.
