Think only children possess the imagination of believing in the fantasy of Santa Claus? Apparently not.

According to the Wire, nearly half of adult Americans say they believe in Santa, according to a poll about Christmas.

That's probably roughly the same percentage of adults who don't take these kinds of surveys seriously, The Wire reported. Known partly for their creative and not-terribly-useful polls, Public Policy Polling surveyed America on its attitude towards Christmas and questioned Americans about their beliefs regarding Santa Claus.

According to the Wire, nearly half of Americans do believe in Santa - and no group more so than older, liberal Latina women.

Who is this 46-or-older Latina that is Democratic and very liberal? Well, Salma Hayek - who is 46 and raised a lot of money for President Barack Obama last year, according to the Wire. Also, "Salma" and "Santa" are eerily similar.

The poll churned out quite some interesting data.

"War on Christmas" is believed to be nonsense by 47 percent of Americans-almost all of whom aren't Republicans, the Wire reported.  Other reinforced stereotypes include Republicans being more resolute about using the greeting "Merry Christmas" in lieu of "Happy Holidays." Also, liberals are less likely to think Santa is white.

But speaking of Santa! Belief in St. Nick's existence has plunged over the course of 201 3, according to the Wire.

Last year's Public Policy Polling poll found that 52 percent of Americans believe in Santa Claus. That's down to 43 percent in 2013.

This year's poll lets us analyze the details about which group is most likely to believe in Santa, the Wire reported.

Here's how belief breaks down by demographic. Percentages indicate the portion of the group that does believe:

Before the scolds start scolding: No, this sort of extrapolation is not statistically relevant. But you probably don't believe in Santa, either.
