Starting in July, Instagram users can automatically translate comments and captions in their feeds. The Facebook-owned image-sharing platform is launching the so-called "translation button" next month. It will become visible by tapping "see translation" option below the comments and captions.

Microblogging site Twitter and Instagram's parent company Facebook rolled out their respective translation feature for quite some time already. However, the forthcoming option may not appear on older posts or for specific languages that Instagram does not support yet. Instagram supports 23 languages so far in its current version but hopes to expand the coverage of languages the company seeks to support.

"The Instagram community has grown faster and become more global than we ever imagined. And we're excited that you'll soon be able to understand the full story of a moment, no matter what language you speak," says Facebook-owned media app in an official statement.

The recent announcement coincides with Instagram's recent 500 million-user milestone. Since September last year, the image-sharing social network managed to add 100 million more users to its ever-growing user base.

According to Teen Vogue, more than 80% of photo-sharing app's users are outside the US so having a language translation feature makes a lot of sense. It is a reiteration of Facebook's mission to connect the world under its wing.

The latest addition to Instagram's recent changes arrives not long after the company decided to tweak its interface and logo design according to Fortune Magazine. Some users aren't too happy about it. Nevertheless, Instagram appears to be on a steady rise despite earlier negative feedback by some disappointed users.

Also in April, the media app changed the way images are shown on its photo feed. Instead of arranging the posts chronologically, Instagram decided tested a new algorithm that would post the pictures according to the users' preference.
