New reports have added fuel to existing speculation that a third iPhone 7 model will release this fall. Dubbed iPhone Pro, this could cost about $150 more than existing iPhone 6S Plus.

These reports, courtesy supply sources from China, have suggested Apple would provide a top-end 256 GB model to replace top-end iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus devices. Recent reports have also suggested a 16 GB variant while others in the past indicated Apple would drop 16 GB phones to make 32 GB variants de-facto.

While not much is known about the Pro model, it is being dubbed Apple's best offering this year. Likely to feature dual-cameras, water-proof built and a 5.8-inch display, Apple could also introduce wireless charging in Pro and Plus devices.

Meanwhile, debate of headphone jack still rages with most reports suggesting Apple would do away with the port while some insisting Apple should retain it. That Apple is going minimalist is clear from its MacBook designs over last two years. Not all Apple fans however are a happy lot.

According to BBC, a petition signed by more than 300,000 people urges Apple to retain the headphone jack. Petitioners argue the move would lead to users being forced to dump their existing hi-fi headphones and spend on Lightning earphones which would also lead to mounting electronic wastes. Those who have argued against the move claim use of Lightning port for music will make charging difficult. Wireless charging, not unlike what the Watch features, could be Apple's ploy to counter such arguments.

Apple iPhone 7 is expected to borrow its appearance from iPhone 6. While lack of design changes in a new iPhone is considered unappealing, a few reports have suggested users will have to change accessories, like cases, even if Apple makes minor changes. While Apple is expected to price new phones similar to existing devices and offer better internals, the cost of ownership will increase.
