Following Star Wars: Battlefront's huge success, game publisher Electronic Arts has just officially announced the upcoming development and release of the game's sequel during EA's recent Play conference in collaboration with game studio DICE spearheading the project.

As per ARS Technica report, DICE is also doing a collaborative work with Motive Studios led by Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond. With more creative brains on the project, fans are hoping for a more developed gameplay experience once the next title hits the shelves.

The press con also hinted the possibility of adding content from recent Star Wars movie to make the game more relatable to avid gamers and fans.

"Next year, you'll get a new installment of Star Wars Battlefront, and we're listening to the fans, and will add new content including content from the new films," Raymond said as quoted by Christian Times.

According to Polygon, the second Battlefront title will reportedly feature planets and characters drawn from the anthology and main film franchises including movie elements from the upcoming Star Wars spinoff "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

The current Battlefront game will also get a slew of DLCs in a teaser video plus a VR X-wing mission playable on PlayStation VR. The upcoming expansions include "Bespin", a "Death Star" map, and an unnamed DLC pack slated for roll-out sometime in December, Design & Trend reported.

Meanwhile, an unofficial "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" will soon be offered as a free download with the title "Galaxy in Turmoil." Loosely based on the cancelled third title, some fans sought for a massive launch of the game. The creators of the Star Wars fan remake, Frontwire Studios, has recently announced the game's release via publishing deal with Steam. The makers are quite confident that it will avoid getting into a long and costly trouble saying that "Galaxy in Turmoil" is technically a "parody," Game N Guide reported.
