Capcom has finally confirmed what fans have long been waiting for: a cinematic story expansion for Street Fighter V.

The upcoming cinematic story mode will be released later this June with the title "A Shadow Falls" which will have four gameplay hours with new playable DLC characters.

Street Fighter V main game owners will receive the DLC pack for free. The DLC release will reportedly fill the gaps left by the third and fourth iterations of the Street Fighter game series.

"The Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion, 'A Shadow Falls,' depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. Seven 'Black Moons' are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power and enveloping the earth in total darkness," the plot reads as per Capcom's official statement.

"Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the 'Black Moons' before it's too late."

As the storyline goes, the heroic trio will encounter other World Warriors in their quest and later joined hands with them in the apocalyptic clash between good and evil. Moreover, Alex, Ibuki, Guile, Juri, Balrog and Urien will also be available in the forthcoming downloadable content as a free treat or sample before their final release later this year, VG247 reported.

Apart from the abovementioned changes that the new cinematic story mode will bring, a June update will also introduce a number of tweaks and add-ons. The update will reportedly bring in premium Battle Costumes for each character that can be acquired only with real money. According to Mobile & Apps, Zenny Currency would soon be phased out although Fight Money will still be retained since it can be earned in the game just by playing.

So far, the game publisher hasn't offered an exact date for Street Fighter V DLC although the company says that will be rolled out late in June. While waiting for the highly anticipated story mode expansion, here's Street Fighter V gameplay teaser video.
