Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin really wants to keep Kevin Durant in the Oklahoma City Thunder. Governor said will offer the star a cabinet position if he stays with OKC for the next season.

“Oklahoma loves Kevin Durant, and Kevin Durant loves Oklahoma,” Fallin said. “If he’ll stay, I’ll make him a Cabinet person for health and fitness on my Cabinet.”

While Fallin's announcement brought great applause from those in attendance, she also added that a cabinet position "might not be as attractive as a couple million dollars."

Durant will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, which is the first day teams can legally connect with free agents. His best team Russell Westbrook would also enter the market at the same time. Whether both Durant and Westbrook stay or not in Thunders will make a huge difference for Oklahoma City Thunder for the next season.

Kevin Durant led the Thunders to the Western Conference Finals but they lost to the Golden States Warriors 4-3 in best of seven games. They were up 3-1 but lost three consecutive games to lose the series.

Durant has won an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, four NBA scoring titles, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, and an Olympic gold medal. He has also been selected to six All-NBA teams and seven All-Star teams.

Kevin Durant's salary in 2016 was $20 million.
