Apple's WWDC is scheduled to kick-off later today and fans are pining for a revised MacBook Pro. Will Tim Cook reveal the highly anticipated laptop?

Speculation up until now suggested Apple will unveil MacBook Pro 2016, revised with Intel Skylake, a design borrowed from the MacBook with hint of novelty in the form of an OLED touchscreen on the keyboard. USB-C and Thunderbolt are expected to replace ports on previous MacBook Pro.

Apple revamped the MacBook and unveiled it earlier this year. The laptop's design earned it appreciation and word soon spread the MacBook Pro will adopt the same design. Equipped with Retina display and graphics processing by AMD/NVDIA chips, the Pro should be a laptop to reckon with. MacBook Pro could also sound the death knell for 'Air' braind of laptops with its design. MacBook Air, many have argued, has lost its relevance after slim became the norm with launch of MacBook 2016.

USB-C has gained much traction since Apple put it on MacBook last year. Other laptop manufacturers have also taken to it. According to a report from ABI Research, nearly all laptops and half of smartphones by 2020 will have USB-C connectivity by 2020. Steps taken by early adopters like Apple seem to be in the right direction.

Thunderbolt 3 is expected further augment connectivity options for the MacBook Pro but it still remains unclear if Apple would provide a port or include a USB-C connector. In this report here, Brooke Crothers favored the idea of a connector to reduce laptop bulk. Others may however differ. Several reports have suggested Apple could include Thunderbolt 3.

With WWDC starting Monday, price slashes on existing MacBook Pro are being touted as evidence for MacBook Pro 2016's coming. Accordingly, discounts up to $ 250 are being offered and if a user buys three years Apple Care, the amount increases to $ 450! Discounts are being offered on both 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2015 devices.
