One of the brightest aspects of the first season of FOX's "Gotham" was Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney. In a sea of cartoonish comic book characters, her original villainess was the only one whose flamboyance and showmanship didn't seem misplaced. However, her time atop Gotham's criminal hierarchy was short lived, as she was killed off near the end of the first season.

However, if we've learned anything from comic books, it's that death is rarely a permanent state of being. Season two has introduced fan-favorite villain Hugo Strange, whose focus is bringing people back from the death with new personalities. Curious, no?

Strange's abilities will be put to the test when Smith makes her return has Fish Mooney in the penultimate episode of season 2, "A Legion of Horribles," but she won't be the only familiar face making a return.

According to the newly released episode synopsis, Hugo Strange will indeed resurrect Fish Mooney on Monday night, May 16. We don't yet know if she'll be a different person entirely, similar to how Theo Galavan was turned into Azrael. We also don't know if Smith is coming back for just this one-off episode or if she also be present in the season two finale. We expect this episode to have a high body count, so it's entirely possible that Mooney's return is short-lived. We'll cross our fingers that she makes it through relatively unscathed.

Also listed in the guest cast is Michelle Veintimilla, who played Bridgit Pike (Firefly), and Brian McManamon, who was cast as Clayface. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if Jerome will be making a return anytime soon, though we can hold out hope.

Here's the full episode synopsis:

"Hugo Strange welcomes a familiar face to Gotham after he resurrects Fish Mooney in Indian Hill. Later, Bruce discovers a friend is in danger and teams up with Gordon, Alfred and Lucius, while uncovering more of Strange's experiments in the all-new 'Wrath of the Villains: A Legion of Horribles' episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, May 16."
