More and more rumors are coming out of Samsung as fans clamor to know what the next version of the South Korean tech giant's next flagship smartphone will look like. The Galaxy S5 has had a lot of rumors spread about its potential features and specs. Now it seems the company may be working on a way to combat the iPhone in terms of security by putting an eye verification scanner against Apple's Touch ID finger print scanner.

The latest report from ZDNet Korea indicates that Samsung is preparing to put Quad HD (QHD) and iris verification technology into its 2013 Galaxy lineup of smartphones. The new screens would have a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, which is the same resolution found on a 27-inch iMac computer. So far there is no word on how big the screen will be but rumors circulating online put the screen at least above 5-inches. It would make sense for the company to keep the size below 5.5 so as not to cannibalize its Galaxy Note phablet line, according to Mashable.

BGR's report backs up these claims saying that Samsung is looking at a standard plastic body variant of the Galaxy S5 as well as a metal version geared at more high-end customers. The next smartphone in the Galaxy family is expected to have a 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM and a 4,000 milliamp-hour (mAh) battery.

According to ZDNet Korea, the iris scanner will not be in place of a finger print scanner but rather in addition to one. The company has already integrated eye capture technology into the Galaxy S4, so it wouldn't be too big of a leap to apply that technology to security.
