In this new age of "Star Wars" movies, fans have been bombarded with countless questions left dangling and unresolved. From the true lineage of Daisy Ridley's Rey to the origins of Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke, fans have been speculating and theorizing at a fevered pitch.

The latest rumor/theory to gain traction online has to do with the upcoming "Star Wars" anthology standalone film, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

As can be seen in the above teaser trailer, a mysterious cloaked figure kneels before a white pillar, thought to be a Bacta tank similar to the healing apparatus Luke Skywalker used in "The Empire Strikes Back." Other keen-eyed fans have suggested that it's a chryo-tube used to suspend individuals in frozen animation.

These observations and guesses have led to a great many theories surrounding the true nature of this scene. The most popular theory that has emerged is that Supreme Leader Snoke himself is in that tank. Check out the video below for the full breakdown of this new theory.

The video suggests that a younger Snoke may be using the tank to heal whatever injuries caused his disfigurement seen in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." While the theory does have some merit and does help to explain one of the most exciting lingering mysteries from "The Force Awakens," we're sad to say that it just isn't accurate. Creative executive Pablo Hidalgo, who serves on Lucasfilm's story group, officially debunked the rumor recently on Twitter.

Considering that Snoke is being set up as one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy and that his background has intentionally been left unclear, it wouldn't make sense for Lucasfilm to suddenly spoil his buildup in a relatively unrelated standalone film. Plus, if Snoke was around during the creation of the first Death Star, why didn't he show up at any point during the original trilogy? With little else to go on, fans are seeing what they want to see in these trailers.

Sorry, "Star Wars" lovers. But it appears as if the mystery surrounding Snoke will have to continue until Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" arrives next year.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will hit theaters on Dec. 15.
