Just a few days after the release of the second season of the hit Netflix series she created, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," former "Saturday Night Live" star Tina Fey appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival to talk about the series.

Fey also opened up about her upcoming musical based on her film "Mean Girls," and why she and Amy Poehler will never work on a television series together.

Last week, the star of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," Ellie Kemper, revealed she was pregnant on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." During her Tibeca Film Festival interview, Fey said Kemper's pregnancy allows her to work on the "Mean Girls" musical before they start filming Season 3 of "Kimmy Schmidt." The comedian said the musical is still in its early stages and she is trying to figure out how true she wants to stay to her original script.

"The thing about social media is that it doesn't dramatize well, but it's been an ongoing question," Fey said. "Do you take out things that are now outdated? Like three-way calling is not a thing."

Fey also talked about her relationship with Poehler, revealing that even though they occasionally work together by making movies and co-hosting award shows, she doubts they'll ever work on a TV show together, even after the success of Poehler's "Parks and Recreation" and Fey's "30 Rock" and her latest hit series.

"We're regarded as a comedy team, which is certainly fine by me," Fey explained. "But I think we both know this to be true - it's because we're actually both alphas. So it works in short spurts, but I don't know if we would make a real dynasty."

While the "Sisters" star does appear on-screen in many of her projects, she said she will always see herself as a writer before anything else. She also has no desire to ever work behind the camera as a director.

"I would say never say never, but I really respect directing, and I know that I still think of things from a writer's or sometimes an actor's point of view," Fey said. "And I just don't understand or really care about cameras. After all these years on set, I understand what's happening, but I just don't care."
