The hit HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones" will be returning this Sunday for a highly anticipated sixth season. Though the mystery surrounding Jon Snow's fate and the future of Daenerys Targaryen are dominating the conversation, countless fans are also excited to see the return of Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark.

Her character has been the most tormented throughout the show's six seasons, with one tragedy following the next. However, this year could see Sansa reverse that trend and finally start making some power moves of her own.

Turner hinted that Sansa will take more ownership of her life in a recent interview, and that could lead to some major changes.

"Ugh, yes. Totally," Turner said when asked if she wants to start taking revenge into her own hands like her on-screen sister Arya Stark. "Like the past five seasons, when Maisie [Williams] is getting to run around with swords and in trousers and stuff, I'm just like, 'Gah. Man that looks like so much fun!' But Sansa's never gonne be doing that. Her weapon is her mind. Her intellect. She's a sharp one."

The trailers for season six have shown Sansa talking about revenge. Could she use her intellect to fill in for a certain book character (who has yet to make her on-screen appearance) that is a stark supporter of vengeance? This would break Sansa from the victim mold that she has occupied throughout the show's run.

When last we saw Sansa, she had leapt from the walls of Winterfell with Theon Greyjoy to try and escape her sadistic husband Ramsay Bolton. Despite the dire circumstances she constantly fins her character in, Turner remains positive about the future.

"I don't know if I'm trying my best to be happy when I'm shooting this depressing show. I don't know if it's an intentional or conscious [thing], but I definitely am just a very happy person.

"You do have to go to some headspace to play Sansa. But you leave that at work. I'll never take that home. Especially because - and people don't realize this, but - when you're on set it's a very jolted thing. It's not like you're in that headspace all day. Sometimes you'll have like two hours in between [set ups] where you'll go and sit with the rest of the cast, and you can't just sit there being quiet and miserable all day. It's a headspace I go to for 15 minutes at a time and I hop right back out of it. It never really affects me too much."

"Game of Thrones" will air its season six premiere this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
