The April 3 season finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead" divided fans unlike any other episode in the series' six-year run. As many of you know, Jeffrey Dean Morgan made his long awaited debut as the iconic comic book villain Negan. In following with the source material, his introduction included a brutal murder of one of our heroes. However, unlike the comic book, the identity of our victim was left deliberately up in the air.

But this being the Internet age and all, fans with nothing better to do have painstakingly reviewed every single detail of that scene in an attempt to piece together a solution. One such attempt has culminated in a breakdown of the audio from that scene, which seems to indicate who was on the receiving end of Negan's baseball bat.

The video suggests that Glenn was the victim in the finale (Spoiler Alert: Glenn is the victim in the comic book), so who better to ask than his on-screen wife Lauren Cohen, who plays Maggie.

"Here's a good piece of intel," the actress said during a recent interview. "We shot the scene, and then individually went into a [sound] booth privately to record audio, so I don't know. Nobody knows what anybody else said."

This echoes comments from other cast members, with the general consensus seeming to be that not even the stars themselves know who Negan offed.

Fans of "The Walking Dead" have been teased with Negan's arrival throughout Season 6 and readers of the comic book have been waiting years for his on-screen introduction. But what is largely considered to be the most pivotal moment in the source material was altered to end on a frustrating cliffhanger that failed to pay off on any of the show's excessive buildup. The episode's poor reception is not a surprise when you consider all of this.

So for now, all we have to go on are these unsubstantiated theories from eagle-eyed viewers and the vague, noncommittal comments from members of the cast. The truth won't be revealed until "The Walking Dead" returns to AMC for a seventh season sometime in October. Until then, speculate away.
