A latest market research by retail analytics firm Conlumino has revealed that most of the tablets purchased on the popular online retail site eBay, are small screen and the convenience of these tablets results in more online shopping.

Internet-connected tablets have made shopping easy with just a few clicks. Tablets lead the PC market, outselling desktops and laptops. The convenience of carrying tablets accounts for most users shopping online while on-the-go. Online retailer eBay published the results of a latest research done by retail analytics firm Conlumino that claims smaller screen tablets are more popular among Brits. The convenience of these tablets also leads to more online shopping.

Cyber Monday sales attracted a large chunk of online shoppers and with Christmas approaching, eBay is expecting a busy weekend. Most shoppers go online to make last minute purchases before Christmas hits and tablets offer a feasible way of shopping online while on the go.

According to the research data, 60 percent tablets ordered online via eBay in the last three months were small-screen tablets. Since most users tend to carry their small slates around with them, 60 percent Brits are shopping more. The data shows that tablet owners spend twice as much on eBay than those who shop online through their desktops.

"Shoppers want convenience, speed and choice - they want to shop anytime, anywhere, on any device, and we're really seeing this in the run up to the festive period," Olivier Ropars, senior director of m-commerce, eBay Europe, said in a statement, according to Retail Times. "However mobile shopping isn't just for Christmas, it's here to stay. Therefore in the New Year it's crucial for retailers to think about their virtual shop window and what that looks like from a smartphone or increasingly, a tablet."

Conlumino interviewed 1,205 tablet owners in the UK, and studied their shopping behavior. Almost 60 percent Brits preferred smaller tablets due to their convenience and 70 percent carried their tablets on their daily commute. But when it comes to shopping online, more than 70 percent users preferred to shop while relaxing on a sofa and over 50 percent admitted to shopping while in bed.
