Throughout the GOP race, John Kasich has remained quite positive. Though the race has largely been focused on his two rivals, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, Kasich has steadily been continuing his pursuit of the Republican nomination. As the race heats up and gets more chaotic, however, Kasich has declared that among the candidates in the GOP, he is the most capable.

Kasich has largely been considered as an afterthought in the GOP race, with Trump and Cruz going at it issue after issue. Indeed, what started off as a race for the nomination has now turned into an ugly war of words that saw Trump and Cruz involve their wives and cross the line on racism and immigration, among other issues.

It is this very fact that Kasich, despite being far behind in the race, refuses to give up. In an interview Wednesday, the candidate explained his stance in the ongoing presidential race.

"This is why I stay in the race," Kasich said. "Look, people say, 'Why does he stay in the race?' What am I supposed to get out and leave it to these guys?"

Typically, avoiding direct criticisms towards his opponents, Kasich further honed into his rivals, criticizing their stances on several notable issues. Trump, for one, received harsh criticisms from the candidate after the front-runner's controversial initial statements about illegal abortion and punishments towards women. Though Trump quickly turned back on his word, Kasich stated that Trump's reactions simply showed his inexperience.

"The past 24 hours revealed in the clearest way yet that Donald Trump is not prepared to be president," Kasich stated. "It's like a panoply of mistakes and outrageous statements. You know what it is with Donald? It's just a stream of consciousness. You can't operate like this."

Overall, Kasich declared that with the way he is, Trump would simply not be a capable leader. Referencing Trump's stance on the use of nuclear weapons, Kasich said the front-runner is "all over the place."

He added: "Are you kidding me? How close is his thumb to the trigger? This is not the way you lead the United States, nor the way in which you lead the world."

Kasich further criticized Cruz, who suggested that Muslim neighborhoods in America be patrolled in order to prevent their inhabitants from being radicalized. For Kasich, such ideas are plainly ill-conceived.

Considering how far back he is in the race, it would take a lot before Kasich could actually earn the party's nomination. Then again, if there has been anything that could be certain about the 2016 presidential elections so far, it is that anything could happen.
