Just as Apple fans camped and lined up outside Apple stores in anticipation for the next iteration of the iPhone, Tesla fans have started camping out and lining up outside several Tesla stores across the world. So what's encouraging all the people to brave the elements? It's the company's first-ever car for the masses, the highly-anticipated Model 3.

Tesla has made a name for itself by creating stylish performance vehicles that utilize clean energy. However, as much as the company has endeared the public, Tesla's offerings thus far lie beyond the reach of the conventional car buyers, with its Model S sedan starting at $71,000 and its crossover SUV, the Model X, starting at $80,000.

That might all change with the Model 3, however, as rumors about the vehicle have predicted that the company would be pricing the new electric car at just $35,000. Though the amount is still notable and relatively higher compared to other compact sedans such as the Honda Civic, it is nonetheless less than half the price of its well-received siblings.

Since the Model 3 was announced, it has garnered quite a lot of attention. After all, if Tesla does manage to create a high-performance, aesthetically-pleasing, affordable electric vehicle, it might very well usher in the age of clean transportation. Looking at the ever-increasing lines outside the company's stores, it does seem like the company has definitely tickled the public's interest.

In fact, some of those who are lining up and waiting outside the company's stores are willing to put in a $1,000 deposit for the car already, even before the car has been unveiled. With the current interest in the vehicle, analyst Sam Jaffe with Cairn Energy Research Advisors believes that the carmaker will end up taking as many as 30,000 reservations for the Model 3 car by the time the vehicle gets launched Thursday night.

Jeff Bond, a Tesla fan who was the first in line at the Dublin storeroom, said that the Model 3 is not just about getting the latest vehicle from the company. It is about influencing the future of clean transportation.

"I'm a believer. I think it can change the future. I drive a lot and think it's going to make sense for me in the long haul," he said.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has expressed his gratitude for the current interest in the vehicle, especially for those who are lining up and camping outside the company's stores.

"Incredibly inspired by the interest in Model 3. You won't be disappointed. Also, a small token of appreciation coming for those who lined up," he said.

Tesla is set to unveil the Model 3 Thursday night in Hawthorne, Calif.
