Production on Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is well under way in Atlanta, Georgia, to the delight of fans everywhere. During a rare break in shooting yesterday, writer/director James Gunn held a live Q&A with fans on his Facebook page. In it, Gunn discussed a wide variety of topics including the layout of his trailer, the music for the sequel and his earliest comic book memories.

However, one of the most interesting aspects of the Q&A was the prospect of Gunn returning to the franchise after "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits theaters. The 2014 original film was a smash hit with critics and fans alike. The movie racked up an unexpected $773 million at the worldwide box office and many expect its sequel to surpass that total. We'd assume Marvel would love to have Gunn back for a third go around, but it's unknown if the director wants to return.

"Right now I really am just concerned with doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Gunn said. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do after this...Marvel has talked to me about continuing on. I'm not sure if that's what I want to do or if that's not what I want to do. I really just want to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the greatest possible movie that I can, and something that's as honest and sincere and true as it can possibly be."

Gunn also revealed that despite the film's production start (20 days ago), he expects filming to wrap in June. That means we could be getting a trailer for the anticipated follow up sooner than we thought.

Marvel's Phase Three slate is mapped out through 2019, with three release dates in 2020 that remain a mystery. Could one of them be "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" and, if so, will Gunn be around for it? Or, after two massive undertakings in the "Guardians" galaxy, will he want to do something different? Hopefully, he'' have one more in him.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled for release on May 5, 2017.
