Manchester City (4-0-1) needs three points and a three-goal win to supplant Bayern Munich for first place in Group D.  A loss, on the other hand, wouldn't hurt Manchester City - the club already secured a spot in the next round as, at the very least, the Group D runner up.

"It's important game," Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini acknowledged, via IB Times.  "We may have already qualified but we still need to improve and make up for our home defeat against Bayern.  We would prefer to finish top of the group, but it's been tough having already played against a very strong Bayern team.  It will be extremely difficult to beat them 3-0 at their stadium.

"However, we will give everything to make that happen."

Bayern Munich (5-0-0) is perfect in the Champions League and appear likely to advance to the last 16 as the winners of Group D.  Bayern has already defeated Manchester on the road and now, with Bayern playing on home field, look ready to hand City another loss.

Even with a berth in the next round secured, Bavarian boss Pep Guardiola wants his club to finish the group stage with a clean sheet.

"Our first goal was to qualify for the next round, and second to win our group.  To get 18 points would be a great achievement," he said.  "Records are nice, but there are many things to improve, such as keeping the ball for longer periods.  If we play our usual game, however, we have a good chance of finishing top.

"Coming second is not an option."
