Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder are 46-22 and have the fourth best record in the NBA with the playoffs approaching, Kevin Durant's free agency is a topic that many people want to discuss right now. Durant is in the final year of his deal with the Thunder and will become a high-prized free agent this summer, so people naturally want to predict where he will end up.

There have been plenty of teams thrown into the mix, but the likelihood remains that he will stay in Oklahoma City. Still, though, Durant is expected to take visits and hear others teams' pitches to him this offseason, and that could possibly change his mind.

The teams that are typically brought up when talking about Durant's next destination are the Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics, among others. One team that has barely ever been brought up as a potential destination for Durant is the San Antonio Spurs, but they may actually make a run at signing him.

The Spurs are usually not heavily involved in the high end free agent market, as they have built their team through the draft, and the team has been greatly successful. Last offseason that changed, though, as they went out and signed LaMarcus Aldridge, who happened to be the best free agent available. Aldridge was at a point in his career where he wanted to play for a chance to win championships, so he decided to go to the team that gives him that chance.

Durant has made it clear that his main motive in free agency is to find a team that will give him the best chance to win. That is a big reason for why the Warriors have emerged as a real possibility and a big reason for why the Spurs are a realistic destination, should they show interest. The Spurs obviously haven't said anything about pursuing him this offseason, since that would be tampering, but rival executives believe that the Spurs will join the chase for the superstar.

The Spurs would have to figure some things out, cap-wise, in order to fit a max Durant contract in but imagine a future lineup of Kawhi Leonard, Aldridge and Durant in the frontcourt for the Spurs. As mentioned earlier, the likely outcome remains Durant staying in OKC, but it would be a surprise if he is not at least enticed by a team like the Spurs that is always in the championship hunt.
