A man who stabbed a woman on board a Greyhound bus bound for Washington reportedly fled the vehicle shortly afterward screaming that he had AIDS.

Baltimore police are currently looking for the attacker, according to the Associated Press. Law enforcement officials responded to calls from witnesses who were on the bus traveling from Atlantic City, N.J. to Washington while it was stopped in the Maryland city on Thursday.

The bus had pulled over for a break on Russell Street at around 9:40 p.m., according to police officers. Officials said that the man emerged from the bathroom on board the bus, produced a blade, and started stabbing a woman sitting down.

A person accompanying the woman on her trip started punching the man who was wielding a knife. He then ran down the aisle and out of the bus, bellowing that he had AIDS.

Law enforcement reported that the man attempted re-entering the bus, but the driver locked the front doors. According to AP, the attacker then ran in the direction of a wooded clearing.

The woman sustained stab wounds in her neck and stomach. She was rushed to the hospital and immediately brought into a surgery room for treatment.

Authorities are still unsure of the motive for the attacks.
