Many are mourning the death of Paul Walker by remembering the footprint he left on the world. One couple in particular was touched by the "Fast & Furious" actor and shared their story on the TODAY show.

Kyle Upham was an Iraq war veteran who wanted to give his wife Kristen the ring she deserved. About 10 years ago, Kyle ran into Walker in a Bailey Banks & Biddle store in Santa Barbara, Calif. while shopping for the perfect ring. Kyle recognized Walker and began having a conversation with the actor.

The couple had found their ring in the jewelry store, but at $9,000 it was too expensive and they ended up leaving it behind. Soon after they left, Kristen received a phone call of the store clerk.

"(She was) saying, 'Here's your ring, it was bought and paid for it in full.' Just utter amazement, and sheer gratitude," Kristen told TODAY.

Until recently, the couple did not know it was Walker who was their "anonymous" ring buyer. They suspected it was the actor, but couldn't confirm it until now.

"You could tell he had a demeanor about him; it was almost like anybody he probably would meet would become his best friend," Kristen said. "...He just did a wonderful and generous thing."

The ring story did not surprise his friends, family or fans. Walker was a known philanthropist and was heavily involved his charity Reach Out Worldwide, which helps those in need after natural disasters.

On Nov. 30, Walker died in a car crash, along with good friend and business partner, Roger Rodas. The two buddies were reportedly going for a "joy ride" before a Reach Out Worldwide event. According to multiple reports, Walker died within seconds of the impact.

Walker's family has asked fans to donate to Reach Out Worldwide instead of sending flowers. Check out the charity's official website here.
