The Denver Broncos boasted the best all-around defense in the NFL this past year, an explosive group of pass catchers and a running game that got going in the second half of the season. Yet despite all of the solid pieces in place - and a Super Bowl victory - quarterback Brock Osweiler still decided to take his talents elsewhere in free agency.

Osweiler parlayed a 5-2 starting record last season into a four-year, $72 million contract with a whopping $37 million in guaranteed money with the Houston Texans. Yes, you read that correctly. The fifth-year veteran has only attempted a total of 305 passes in his career but is being paid roughly $18 million per year, more than the likes of Matt Stafford and Carson Palmer. Though he's leaving the safety of the playoff tested Broncos, Osweiler still believes he can be on a Super Bowl winning team.

"Ultimately, a world championship," Osweiler said when asked about his goals with the Texans. "I believe that comes from a lot of hard work."

The Texans have a top five defense, including arguably the NFL's best defensive player in J.J. Watt, to go along with a solid offensive line and a stud at wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins. All that has really been missing is a capable quarterback.

"This organization is on the cusp of doing something great, and I want to be part of it," Osweiler said. "Coming to Houston was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Osweiler was competent if unspectacular in 2015. He completed 61.8 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,967 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions in eight game appearances. Now officially in the driver's seat of a starting gig, Osweiler is eager to get going with his new team.

"Houston has a great organization, and to be part of it is really exciting," Osweiler continued. "I can't wait to get to work with the guys in the spring."

Despite his excitement, Osweiler still feels for his former team.

"It was very difficult to leave Denver. I'd be lying if I said anything else. I had a tremendous four seasons in Denver. Those are four seasons I will always hold close to my heart."
