The steamy kiss between Dr. Jane Foster and Thor in "Thor: The Dark World" was not one between Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, as the actress revealed to the New York Daily News, but rather one between Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky.

Due to a scheduling conflict, Portman was unable to play in the scene as Thor's mortal girlfriend, so "Fast & Furious 6" actress Pataky acted as a stunt double.

"It was for reshoots [after the film was finished] and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film," Portman told the News. "And so they put his wife in my wig and costume, that's why it was so passionate. It was such a perfect solution, wasn't it?"

The audience was unaware of the switch due to some clever camera tricks and the use of a good brown wig, as Pataky is a natural blonde, and she just so happened to be traveling with her husband at the time that the scene needed to be reshot.

The two married in 2010 and have an 18-month-old daughter named India together, and are currently expecting a second child, as Us Weekly confirmed on Nov. 20.

"Thor: The Dark World," the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and second "Thor" film in the "Avengers" franchise, has grossed over $591 million worldwide, both a critical and commercial success for Marvel Comics and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
