Country crooner Blake Shelton is back with a new single, the first song he's released since his divorce from country star Miranda Lambert last summer. With "Came Here to Forget," Shelton spins a tale of two people who meet up in a bar to forget their exes, a familiar tale for fans who have been following his love story with new girlfriend, singer Gwen Stefani.

Shelton, 39, and Stefani, 46, first sparked rumors after they were seen flirting on the set of NBC's hit singing competition series "The Voice" last September, following Shelton's divorce from Lambert in July and Stefani's August split from her husband, Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale. They confirmed their relationship last November.

In the first verse of "Came Here to Forget," the country hunk sings the lines: "Girl getting over him / And I'm getting over her / The eyes had it made / Ain't gotta say a word / Misery loves company / That's why it's you and me."

The chorus continues to tell the story of a man meeting a woman at a bar and the pair spending the night drinking together in order to get over their exes. Shelton said the lyrics, which were written by Craig Wiseman (who also wrote Shelton's hits "Hillbilly Bone" and "Boys 'Round Here") and Deric Ruttan (who has written songs for Dierks Bentley and Eric Church), are a true reflection of his personal life.

"I've had a lot of music over the years, but I don't think I've ever had a song before that's such a direct look into my life," Shelton said. "That's why I'm so excited about this particular song."

"Came Here to Forget" is the first single from Shelton's upcoming, highly anticipated twelfth studio album. A title and release date has yet to be announced, but Shelton is already garnering support from fellow singer Kelly Clarkson and his girlfriend Stefani.

"It's SO good @blakeshelton :) The whole new album is amazing! Can't wait for everyone to hear it! Killer job!" Clarkson wrote on Twitter in response to a promotional tweet from Shelton.

"@kelly_clarkson @blakeshelton sooooooooooo good #newmusic #gottohearitfirst #lucky gx," Stefani wrote, adding a blushing smiley emoji.
