Twitter's new standalone music app will be launched over the weekend at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, AllThingsD reported.

According to a report from AllThingsD, sources confirmed the launch of Twitter's new music app Friday at Coachella. However, sources aware of the matter also clarified that Twitter may launch the new music app sometime this weekend, but not necessarily Friday.

Speculation about the new music app launch comes after Twitter confirmed acquiring "We Are Hunted," a latest music discovery service, Thursday. The micro-blogging service had reportedly been building the new music app based on the "We Are Hunted" service.

According to Slash Gear, Twitter was in the process of developing the latest music app since last year after purchasing the "We Are Hunted" service.

The app reportedly called "Twitter Music" will stream music through the SoundCloud. Twitter account holders can experience personalized music recommendations based on the artists the user follows or even the users' followers follow. The service will be available for non-Twitter users too.

Slash Gear the "Twitter Music" service features, which include four tabs with different functions making it easier for users to stream through their choice of music. It also includes the "Suggested" tab which recommends music based on the artists being followed on the account. The "#Now Playing" tab gives a list of songs which are tweeted with #Now Playing hashtag. The "Popular" tab makes suggestions based on the trending songs on the app. Finally, the "Emerging" tab gives a list of new and upcoming songs and artists on the "We Are Hunted" service.

A recent series of tweets from the American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest, confirmed the existence of the Twitter Music service.

"lovin the app...shows what artists are trending, also has up and coming artists... spinning u now @frankturner," Seacrest tweeted Thursday.

"playing with @twitter's new music app (yes it's real!)...there's a serious dance party happening at idol right now," read another tweet.

The Twitter Music is most likely to be integrated in iOS devices soon and further added to the Vevo and others.
