A latest annual research by Orange reveals that Android is continuing to dominate the iOS market share in UK, France and Spain for the second consecutive year and the tablet market is also turning in favor of Google's mobile operating system.

Apple iPads were on top of the charts for a long time, but the cards seem to be turning in favor of Android of late. According to Orange Exposure 2013/2014, an annual market research by Orange in UK, France and Spain, Android is continuing its dominance over the  iOS market and is slowly taking the lead in the tablet sector as well. Samsung has played a huge role in helping Android gain dominance.

According to Orange, Samsung accounted for only 6 percent tablet share in the UK in 2012, which rose to 19 percent this year. The South Korean tech giant has not only dominated the UK tablet market, but has constantly grown in France, a leap from 13 percent in 2012 to almost 30 percent till date. This has helped the Android-based tablets to gain more power in all three markets.

The research also found that the advance high-speed 4G LTE introduction has resulted in a change in consumer behavior. An increasing number of users is taking advantage of the high speed 4G data to download video games, pay bills, and more. According to Orange, 30 percent 4G users download video games on their mobile devices, compared to 17 percent of 3G users. Also, 53 percent 4G users paid their bills from their mobile devices in the last six months whereas only 34 percent of 3G data users did the same.

"This year's findings provide early evidence that faster speeds and greatly improved bandwidth have indeed shaken up how people are using their mobile - making it more central to their lives than ever before," Jean-Marie Culpin, head of Marketing and Customer Intimacy, Orange, said in a press release. "As 4G becomes increasingly available to everyone, it is exciting to witness how it's helping people go about their daily lives, as their trusted companion."

The high-speed internet demands more hi-tech gadgets. Consumers are interested in growing with the technology and Android covers several leading tech companies under it. Since iOS is an exclusive mobile OS for Apple devices, it is a huge challenge to keep at par in such a highly competitive market.
