Aaron Carter threw his support behind Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Saturday and faced immediate backlash from his Twitter followers.

Carter first retweeted Trump, who wrote on Feb. 27, "I am self-funding my campaign and am therefore not controlled by the lobbyists and special interests like lightweight Rubio or Ted Cruz!" He then responded to Trump's tweet and wrote, "Does America want to have a president who FOLLOWS or someone who leads? I vote For @realdonaldtrump."

One fan criticized Carter for following Trump who would lead the country "further into a ditch of racism and bigotry," but another fan, who claimed to be a Bernie Sanders supporter, said that wouldn't stop her "from still being a fan."

"Good thing I live in America and I have the right to my own opinion such as a lot of my NON supporters have for me at times," Carter fired back on Twitter. "Losing fans gaining fans all good so what happens when Donald becomes president relax people."

Carter spent the rest of the day tweeting about watch "The Revenant" and responding to Twitter followers about his endorsement. He also admitted that he doesn't agree with everything Trump says such as his views on gay marriage or immigration, but he does support "business man trump."

The "Aaron's Party" singer performed at an LGBT event on Saturday night in San Diego.

Trump has made no comment about Carter's endorsement. He received a political endorsement from former opponent New Jersey governor Chris Christie on Friday, but disavowed an endorsement from Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke.
