Stacey Dash, former actress turned Fox News contributor, made a cameo onstage during the 2016 Oscars last night, joining host Chris Rock for a joke that fell flat, the Washington Post reported. Her appearance at the Academy Awards ceremony confused viewers after Dash's controversial statements regarding the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and boycott, but the "Clueless" star has spoken out about her involvement in last night's ceremony in new blog post on her website.

At one point during the ceremony, Rock introduced Dash onstage as the Academy's "Director of Minority Outreach" program and Dash took the stage dressed in a white, sparkling open-back gown.

"I cannot wait to help my people out," Dash said in a clip obtained by The Wrap. "Happy Black History Month."

The joke comes one month after Dash sparked controversy with her segment on the "Fox & Friends" show where she called for the elimination of B.E.T., the B.E.T. Awards and Black History Month, as previously reported by HNGN. Dash's comments were made in defense of the Oscars after director Spike Lee and actress Jada Pinkett Smith called for a boycott of the awards ceremony for the lack of diversity among its nominees.

"When they added ME to increase the diversity, I'm sure many black people rolled their eyes," Dash wrote in her blog. "I'm not 'black enough,' they say. But guess what? I've heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks - and votes - just like all my friends."

"Yes, I'm the actress from the South Bronx who has always dreamed of winning an Oscar," she continued. "But God has a great sense of humor and this is my first encounter with one of my dreams of destiny. Bringing diversity to Hollywood... not merely because of color, but politics as well."
