Given the roll they are on right now, it's no surprise 20th Century Fox is planning to expand their superhero universe. Ryan Reynolds' "Deadpool" is continuing to break records as the R-rated superhero dominated the box office for the third straight week and May's "X-Men: Apocalypse" should make plenty of noise worldwide as well. Now, Fox has just added two more unknown Marvel movies for release on Oct. 6, 2017 and Jan. 12, 2018.

That same optimistic thinking may not apply to "Gambit," though. A Fox rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the troubled mutant film has been "unset" from its release date. The Channing Tatum starring, Doug Liman directed solo adventure was originally scheduled to arrive on Oct. 6 of this year.

It's possible that Fox is just delaying "Gambit" until 2017 given all the trouble the movie has experienced while trying to get off the ground. There new 2018 Marvel release may be "Deadpool 2," teased in the post-credits scene of the first movie with the promise of fan-favorite comic book character Cable coming along from the ride. As the highest-grossing "X-Men" movie in the U.S., it's all but guaranteed a sequel.

However, Fox has tabbed Jeff Wadlow ("Kick-Ass 2") to develop an "X-Force" movie and the studio has had Josh boone ("The Fault in Our Stars") working on a "New Mutants" concept. It's possible that one of the new release dates belongs to one of those films.

While we wait to find out, you can catch "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27.
